My Graphic Design

The following graphic design projects are all school assignments that I have done in the last three years. I would love to start doing client work as the opportunity presents itself. Until then, feel free to browse.

Hand Process

handletteringOne of the earliest school projects I was given, this sphere was created by photo copying letters out of an old school typeface book, cutting out each one, and then waxing down each letter to put together the lyrics of Regina Spector’s “The Call”. One of my favorite songs. This was the beginning of my introduction to how much work can go into a project.

Internship Projects

internship_3For my internship I worked for a local company that does direct mailing (mostly postcards). A great experience for learning Adobe inDesign inside and out, from the beginning of a process all the way to print. Even had the opportunity to practice data merging, which is one of the coolest things ever.

Spread for Children’s Environmental Magazine

kiddo_sphere2The problem was to design an environmentally focused magazine using indesign and the ever popular grid system.  In an effort to stretch myself out of the box as much as possible, I decided to design a sophisticated version of a children’s magazine. And yes, the word search really works.

July 4th Tribute

july_4I have been, when time permits, trying to teach myself Adobe After Effects, a video software package that in the right hands can do some amazing thing. Whether this is amazing or not is for each to judge themselves, but it was fun to make, and worth showing, at least for effort.

It’s basically a stop motion done in After effects with one piece legos. Many many layers went into the making, but all legos were treated humanely.

The Hole in the Sidewalk

thehole_smallA flash commentary on not conforming ourselves to fit in with the glitz and vanity of the world. This was the final project done in my new media class at Boise State University. Its the single class of its kind in the Graphic Design program at BSU. I hope the add more to the program soon.
